18 Hours of Melrose

For 2016, 18 Hours of Melrose will be held over the father’s day weekend in September, so they’ve lined up a range of fun activities to get the whole family involved.

With Modular Pumptrack as the main sponsor, they’ll be having pump track competitions to keep both adults and kids entertained and the little ones will have the opportunity to win a balance bike from Scool Bikes.

Racing will be held on a 10km singletrack loop with the event centre right in town — lap times are expected to be around 30-45 minutes. Both teams and solo categories will be offered with options to race for six or the full 18 hours. As usual there will be a theme, and this time it’s ‘saints and sinners’ with the course incorporating a crazy shortcut for the sinners — it’ll be interesting to see what that entails!

While the racing will take place on the 2nd and 3rd of September, the riding doesn’t end there. With father’s day on Sunday the 4th, there will be a relaxed family ride to Kookaburra Creek Retreat via the rail trail and the Willowie Forest National Park.
