Bike Buller to Host a MTB Legend
The GT Bike Buller Festival will be a huge weekend in the Victorian Alps. Running from Saturday the 12th to Monday the 14th of March, it includes 14 events, both XC and gravity oriented. You can enter a single event or the whole lot – it’s up to you.
For 2016 there will be an overall champions prize for both ‘gravity gods’ and ‘XC whippets’. The overall XC whippets crown will go to the fastest rider across the 50km Stirling Circuit marathon (Saturday), Brake Burner Enduro (Sunday) and the 20km Corn Hill XC (Monday).
The Gravity Gods winner will come from the combined times on the Outlaw All Mountain Trophy (Saturday - three fastest descent times added together), ABOM Downhill (Sunday) and the Gravity Enduro (Monday with five different timed descents).
Beyond the competition, the GT Buller Festival is also receiving a visit from Hans Rey; an absolute legend of mountain biking. Hans has been a star since the early days of the sport and is responsible for putting it the mainstream limelight. Read more about Hans here: http://www.mtbiking.com.au/news/interview-hans-rey
There will be opportunities to meet and ride with Hans throughout the weekend including a social ride on the 40km long Epic Trail (limited to 50 riders). This ride finishes with a cold beer in the Delatite River and a shuttle ride back up the hill – awesome!
