e-Thirteen XCX Hub

The e-Thirteen brand has a strong background in the gravity oriented side of the sport, but of late they’ve bolstered and expanded their ‘XCX’ cross-country range. While XCX products are certainly very trail worthy, don’t be misled by the name—these aren’t racer-oriented weight weenie parts. The XCX hubs are a good example of this; the front weighs 171g while the rear is 309g. Their real worth lies in their solid construction; they feature oversized flanges to create a laterally stiff wheel and the interchangeable end caps will handle most current axle standards—quick release or 15mm thru-axle up front and 135 QR, 135x10mm and 142x12mm on the back. A real highlight is the 60-point pawl mechanism; a freewheel that engages every 6-degrees should provide near instant control over your forward movement in technical terrain. A pair of XCX hubs sells for $506 and they are available in either 32 or 24 hole configurations.
