FRM CU3 crank

Some people say that a double chainring set-up is best while others claim that a single ring will take you anywhere. Meanwhile a few people still feel that the good old triple is the way to go. In reality it comes down to personal preference and the nature of the trails that you ride. If you’re not totally sold on one particular system, why not go with a crankset that offers the flexibility to adapt to your needs? The Italian made FRM CU3 cranks use an interchangeable spider that lets you swap between a range of chainring formats. This also future-proofs the cranks against new ‘standards’ that may come about. As with FRM’s earlier designs, they are made from scandium alloy but the arms are now substantially bigger to improve strength and stiffness. They remain very light, and a double crankset is claimed to weigh 697g including 27/40 chainrings and a traditional external bearing bottom bracket. Those who prefer their cranks to have a narrow, road-bike-like stance will also like the 163mm Q-factor. Pricing on the CU3 cranks starts from $775 and varies depending on the chainring and bottom bracket combination you choose.
