On the 12-13 of December, Mt Baw Baw is set to host their first gravity enduro event with the third round of the 2015 Victorian Enduro Tour. Baw Baw is just 2.5 hours drive from Melbourne and while most mountain bikers know it for the ‘DH1’ downhill track, it has a range of other trails on offer.
Event organiser Alpine Gravity has assembled a range of trails that take you all around the mountain. There will be five timed special stages with most offering a modest 80-100m elevation loss, so the pedal back up won’t be too taxing. Stage five is the big one however, dropping 270 vertical metres on the DH1 track in just 1.5km of hell-for-leather hanging on!
As a new venue for gravity enduro, it’ll pay to get up there early and the trails will be open from the Friday. Official practice and registration is on Saturday with racing on the Sunday. Full face helmets will be compulsory for all of the timed special stages.
You’ll find all of the information on the Alpine Gravity site and a detailed course map can be found here. So get yourself up there and check out what Mt Baw Baw has to offer!
