If you’re a bit of a gear freak, you’ve probably already got a cycling specific GPS hanging off the bars on your MTB. But what if you’re an all-round adventure sports fan too? The new Ambit3 Vertical is the sort of gadget that you’d love to strap to your wrist when you’re running, walking, mountaineering or skiing.
This multisport GPS watch uses an integrated rechargeable battery that’s said to offer up to 100 hours of runtime. Built with a composite case, it weighs just 74g and features a built in barometer that provides accurate elevation tracking. You can follow your routes altitude profile on the watch with real-time ascent gain and remaining ascent; a summary of your ascents provides daily totals over seven days, 30 days and a year.
The Suunto ‘Movescount’ App allows you to plan your workouts on the go – the route planner in the app is enhanced with topographic maps and altitude information. The app also allows you to customise watch settings, share your Moves on the go, and receive calls and text notifications.
You can also pace yourself using running power with the optional Stryd Running Powermeter. Along with the new Ambit3 Vertical, Stryd Powermeter compatibility is made available for all Suunto Ambit3 watches.
The Ambit3 Vertical Multisport GPS aims to provide a comfortable fit on all wrists while the stainless steel bezel helps protect the watch glass. The watch is water resistant to 100m and available in four colours: blue, lime, white and black.
Expect to pay around $629 for this high-tech gadget or $679 including the optional Suunto Smart Sensor. For more information click here.
