Pipeline Plus Bike

The ‘plus’ sized bike options continue to expand with Rocky Mountain launching the Pipeline; a carbon 27.5 dual suspension trail bike that can handle up to 3.35 inch wide rubber.

Like their Instinct all-mountain bike, it features the ‘Ride 9’ system which allows you to adjust the shock leverage rate to suit your needs. Overall the geometry errs on the conservative side, with a head angle in the 67-69 degree range and reach figures that aren’t overly long. The chainstays come in at 443mm which sounds a fraction long for a 27.5 trail bike but you need to remember that this bike has clearance for 3.25 tyres (many plus bikes are only made to clear 3.0 tyres). Suspension wise the Pipeline offers 130mm at the rear and comes with a 150mm travel fork.

What’s the point of having such big rubber on the trail? Masses of traction which enhances your confidence when the trail turns technical. The video below explains the rest…
