For the final two events of the 2015 season, the Fox Rollercoaster #Enduro Series is now “hydrated by Camelbak”. Organisers from Rocky Trail Entertainment announced the new sponsorship today, saying it was a perfect fit for the popular mountain biking racing discipline.
“With Camelbak we’ll be introducing an innovative product to our riders, the Kudu hydration pack. It’s the perfect partner for our enduro riders because not only is it able to carry fluid and gear but also has a built-in back/spine protector for those tricky situations”, said Martin Wisata, race director from Rocky Trail. He added that thanks to sponsor and Camelbak distributor JetBlack Cycling, Kudu backpacks will be handed out as prizes at the upcoming Fox Rollercoaster #Enduro events in Kempsey in July and at Stromlo Forest Park in August.
Two-day event in Kempsey
The next series round will be held in Kempsey, on the New South Wales North Coast on 4+5 July 2015. Hosted by the local Kempsey Macleay Offroad Cyclists, who specialises in enduro mountain biking and trail building, the event will offer four race tracks over two days. More than 150 riders are expected to take part in the event, which challenges them to ride to the start of race tracks and then to complete two timed sections each day until a designated cut-off time. The race tracks will include a combination of fast descents that require good technical and endurance riding skills including accelerating out of tight corners and navigating across rocky terrain.
“We held a race at the Kempsey club trails last year and the feedback from riders was overwhelmingly positive – it’s an ideal venue, with accommodation very close-by and many options for accompanying families and friends to enjoy the surrounding Macleay region”, said Wisata.
As the official NSW/ACT State Series, the event will provide riders with valuable points to count towards their series positions. Currently, Vanessa Thompson from Yanderra in Sydney’s South is leading the women’s division ahead of Joanne Fox from Emu Heights and Bec Wyatt from Sydney. In the men’s elite classification, Michael Vanos from Sun Valley leads ahead of Sydney’s Chris Martin and Brett Pople from Cessnock.
The event offers various skill and age categories and is open for all mountain bikers. Riders can register via www.rockytrailentertainment.com – entry for spectators is free. Racing will commence at 1pm on the Saturday and at 10am on the Sunday.
