Tassie takes out ‘Trail of the Year’

The Enduro World Series (EWS) has once again chosen Australia as its favourite MTB playground with Tasmania winning ‘Trail of the Year’.

With venues from eight stages to choose from, the title of Specialized Trail of the Year is always a tight race but the Kumma Gatza trail at Derby stood tall in the end.

It’s the second time in three years that a Derby trail has taken out the title with the Detonate trails winning in 2017, bolstering the former mining town’s world-renowned reputation.

The result was seemingly never in doubt with Tasmanian EWS organiser Ian Harwood confident from the start.

“We feel truly honoured to have won,” Harwood told EWS.

“I told the EWS at the start of the year that Kumma Gutza was going to win this award, it's such a fun bit of trail. Everyone involved with the event is delighted that the riders enjoyed racing the stage as much as we enjoyed creating it."

The EWS will take a break from Derby and indeed Australia for the 2020 season which begins on 28 March in Colombia and ends on 29 August in Switzerland.
