Evocities Bound for Tamworth
Round three of the Evocities MTB Series heads to Tamworth on Sunday the 7th of August and it’ll be held at Tamworth Mountain Bike Park.
This purpose built facility opened in 2014 and came about thanks to the hard work of Tamworth MTB Club, along with the support of local business and the Tamworth Regional Council. It’s a fully mapped out MTB park that contains a variety of trails from easy green rated tracks through to technical black diamond trails.
This round Evocities series will be a five hour race with categories for solo riders, pairs and teams of three in a range of age divisions. The Tamworth track is a relatively challenging one, both technically and physically. There’s a good amount of climbing in each 10km lap and it includes rock gardens, chutes, berms, bridges and gullies.
Evocities is a seven race mountain bike series that aims to showcase what our rural cities have to offer. The opening rounds were held in in Bathurst and Albury and following on from Tamworth the series will head to Wagga Wagga, Dubbo, Armidale and Orange.
Aside from introducing riders to new trails and the unique offerings of each town, the lucrative prize purse stands as an attraction for the elite racers. Dubbed ‘Australia’s richest MTB series’, Evocities offers generous prize money. This comes courtesy of the series sponsors, including Fairfax Media; QantasLink; Forestry Corporation; NSW Mining; Charles Sturt University; Macquarie and Orange Anglican Grammar Schools; Spinifex Recruiting; Maas Group Properties; and Prime 7.
